Preparation for the Check Ride
- Please arrive to the appointment early and prepared
- Bring you ID, Medical Certificate and Student Pilot Certificate (sounds obvious, but I have had applicants “forget” their ID)
- Be familiar with the relevant Airman Certification Standards (ACS)
- Read and understand the Appendices in the back of the ACS
- Ensure the airplane is airworthy and ready
- I will email you the Scenario for the check ride the day before the check ride
- Complete your Scenario (Cross Country Flight Plan) in its entirety prior to the check ride
- Prepare Weight and Balance per the Scenario provided prior to the check ride
- Perfection is not the standard, I MUST see Proficiency, Safety and Good Judgement
- If you don’t fully understand the question, ask for clarification
- If you don’t know the answer to a question, don’t guess, generally you can look it up in a relevant source, the internet doesn’t look good
- You must satisfactorily complete the Ground Portion of the test prior to the Flight Portion
- Get a good nights rest the night before the check ride
